Two Day Workshop: Wednesdays September 28 & October 5, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00pm
Mada will briefly discuss the history of paper making.
Week One ~ Paper Making
In the first class students will be creating paper. Mada will be demonstrating how to make sheets of paper from cotton and mulberry bark. The cotton paper is created from short fibers. These are the short fibers left after cotton is milled for making tee shirts. The mulberry bark paper is made from the long fibers of the mulberry tree’s bark. This paper is a traditional paper called KOZO.
Week Two ~ Molding Paper
The following week students will be using the papers created during the first class. Students will mold their paper into ornament shapes, bowls or fashion the paper into shapes for collaged cards.
