Thursday October 10, 2024 from 5:30-7:00pm
Everyone who likes public art will love meeting sculptor Marsh Scott. She will share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories and photos of her stainless steel and aluminum works installed throughout the United States.
Locally, her pieces in the City of Laguna Beach public art collection include “Colors of the Canyon” on Broadway near Forest Ave. The spectacular fence, measuring 72 feet long, features undulating steel panels inset with vibrantly colored glass whose production was assisted by local artist Maggie Spencer. Another is “Steps in the Sand” at Crescent Bay Villas, 1575 N. Coast Highway in north Laguna. Commuters heading into town view the metal wall panels with cutouts of figures from an indigenous American, to a Spanish padre, to present day residents. In South Laguna, citizens enjoy “Wave Dance” on Wesley Drive, featuring jumping dolphins, and at The Old Pottery Place Center, pedestrians and shop-goers enjoy the “Greetings From Laguna” fencing, with ceramic relief insets of scenery by local artist Sherry Bullard.
As a bonus to those attending LOCA Art Talks, everyone will receive a post-event certificate for 15%-off food at nearby Lumberyard Restaurant.
